Ringing in the New Year with a bang

This is a look at the end of our New Years Day.

Broken plate...if you couldn't tell by the picture.
Ok and just so we are clear...these are plates we are borrowing from the mother in law just till we find some we like.

I had three wonderful pizza crusts raising in the oven and was getting ready to roll them out.  Troy was just starting supper and set a plate down to run and do something.  I was standing by the sink (next to the stove) and Khloe was across the kitchen on a chair.  All of a sudden we hear "BANG BANG BANG BANG" and stuff was flying through the air.  I cover my head and look over at Khloe who was luckily out of harms way.

Turns out when Troy ran in the other room to do something he set a dinner plate on the burner of the stove.  Which would have been fine, except for the fact that he had turned the wrong burner on to start cooking his pan.  He just so happened to turn on the burner that was housing the dinner plate.

The picture shows about half of the plate.  The other half was blown into teeny tiny shards.  We are sooo sooo fortunate that no one was standing in front of the stove.  Who knows what the outcome would have been.  I was the closest one and luckily happened to be turned the other way.  All I kept thinking about was those teeny tiny shards blasting into someone's eye.

LUCKY!!!!

The unfortunate part was that 2 or the 3 pizza crusts I had worked on for the last couple hours were full of teeny tiny shards of plate.  Needless to say those got pitched in the garbage.  But you know what....I don't even care.  Just glad we weren't taking a trip to the emergency room that night.

Happy New Year!
