Ready for takeoff

I think the site is pretty much ready.  As ready as it can be right now.  It took a little longer than I thought.  A lot of this is due to learning the ins and outs of a new blog platform.  But I wanted to start it right so that I didn't have to move to a different spot later on.  So it is up and running.  There really isn't much flash to it right now and I plan on keeping it pretty simple, but the header and sidebars will change over time and be added to once we get further into the renovation process. 

Everything will be located over at the new site from now on (so be sure and bookmark it).  Sorry, I know, I've switched a few times over the years, but this is a whole different look for a whole new blog.  In the future there will be lots of decorating, gardening, landscaping, and building tips (and disasters I'm sure), but for now it is all about the renovation process of the house.

Almost ready

Ok so just wanted to give everyone a little update.  Setup is ALMOST ready to go and I should have things ready to go within a week.  Hopefully less time!  I will post the new address on this website as soon as I'm ready!

I'm still here

Wow, it's been awhile!  

So here is what we have been up to here.

Sickness, house planning, sickness, house planning, house planning, house planning, sickness.

Yep that about sums it up.

So here is where we are at on the house......

....we have a plan and we have a contractor.  Time to execute.

So the main reason I have been missing and the main reason that you have not seen much anything on the house is because.....I have a new blog planned!

I know, I know I have switched blogs once before and it was a big pain....for you I'm sure and for me as well.  But this switch is absolutely necessary.  Using the blogger platform just limits me to what I am able to do with my blog, so I have changed platforms and will be up and running hopefully within a month.  I have been working, working, working and I'm really excited to show off the new blog.

I have lots of things planned for the new blog, including showing every step of progress on the new house!  So hang tight, things will be up and running soon!

laziness

I have a bad case of the lazies (is that a word?) lately.  I really haven't felt like doing much of anything. 

Right now I'm lying on the couch recovering from a root canal.  I really would never even wish that on my worst enemy.  Wow that was not fun.  The worst part is I still have to go back 2 more times to finish it.  Aughhh.  They claim the worst part is over and I can only hope they are telling the truth.  Although the throbbing going on in my mouth right now might be the worst part.  I caved and called the dentist for a prescription because I don't think my ibuprofen helped one little bit.  Troy is headed to the pharmacy soon to pick up my Tylenol with codeine to help put me out of my misery.

Khloe is zonked out in her bed with strep infection and croup.  At least the fever and throwing up has stopped.  She is starting to get some of her sass back, which can only mean that she is feeling better.

I don't have much hope for the rest of the week as far as how we will feel, but hopefully we will all be feeling good by the weekend!  And hopefully my bout of laziness will wear off by then too!

some good reads

I've been busy doing some reading during the last week.  

If you want a couple of short, good books I HIGHLY suggest the following.  

Especially this first one.  WOW... is about all I can say.  Makes you think a little bit.  I picked that one up on a Saturday afternoon and was done by about 5:00 that night.  I couldn't put it down.

tubing - day two

We had so much fun tubing the first day we of course had to go back the next day.  This time we came armed with two tubes and determined to reach the tire by the end of the day.

It didn't take long for that goal to be reached.  Every time we went down the hill we just went further and further.

We were having tons of fun.....

right up until....

about now.....

when the tube started losing speed and a rather large hole was spotted.

Well at least it didn't ruin Troy's day.  He kept a smile on his face.

Well for a moment anyways.  Then the profanity started to fly and a fit was thrown.

Khloe and I didn't let it ruin our day.

And Troy came around and decided to end his day on a high note.

p.s. the profanity and fit throwing actually never happened....what you saw in the pictures was Troy trying to be funny.  And as it turns out, it was rather funny.

tubing - day one

We had been looking for a hill to take Khloe tubing on.  Well we finally decided to head to the grandparents house and build our own hill.  So Troy and his dad spent a little while getting everything ready and we ended up with a WONDERFUL hill.  

Troy of course had to try the hill first.

 Then it was Khloe's turn.  She was fearless.

 And loved every minute.

 Meanwhile, I was busy being photographer.

 Very rarely did she allow either of us to go down with her.  She always wanted to go by herself.  We only had one tube though, so we had to beg a little bit to get in on the fun.

 This was the worst part of tubing.  The climb back to the top.

 Finally it was my turn to try it out.

Troy thought he would try the sled out.  

The same one he used when he was five.

He really hasn't grown too much.

Doesn't he look like he's having a blast.  I'm surprised the pictures turned out, as hard as I was laughing watching him go down this hill.

All in all we had a really great day........
